“TA 06.10.19 - Friend booked a package for the four of us to go clay pigeon shooting. We were given 6 shots in numerous traps our guide was excellent my friend and another of our party have shot numerous times and two of us were novices we were given excellent tuition where we told where the clays would be coming from and how we should shoot. I can recommend this as a great day out you are given excellent tuition and help and you are able to use the guides shotgun. Will definitely be returning as it is great venue.”

“TA 05.09.19 - I attended for a clay pigeon shoot with my best friend on a Saturday lunchtime. The clubhouse is warm, inviting and full of memorabilia. We were greeted by the gunsmith at reception and dealt with professionally and courteously. The 3 gun dogs that were there were absolutely gorgeous and added to a homely atmosphere. I had rung the day before and asked if my friend could also attend and was told to bring him along as they could fit him in to my session. I was extremely impressed by this as they didn’t have to accommodate him at all. Our instructor (Phil) was professional, courteous, supportive and humorous, putting the less experienced shooters at ease whilst maintaining the club’s strict safety guidelines at all times.
I have been once before and got the same fantastic service then.
The whole experience takes around 1 hour 20 minutes (as the group size is around 6?people) or you can have a longer session to do more shooting from more bays.
We shot from 4 different bays and had a variety of challenges including dual targets.
All in all I would highly recommend this shooting ground and will definitely be attending again for the longer session.
My best friend attended for the first time and he’s hooked now!

“TA 05.09.19 - I booked the hours shooting via Virgin Experiences for my husband’s birthday. I decided to join him and I am so happy I did. We booked the hour from 10 to 11 however we finished around 11.30. We arrived at the shooting ground around 9.30 (quite early) and easily found car park space . When we left the car park seemed pretty full though ... We had to wait to be checked in at the bar area, and there there refreshments available. Our instructor was Clive, which we found very knowledgable and helpful, he explained very well what we need to do. We were put in a group with another 4 other people and we moved to 4 different stations, shooting 32 rounds each. It was a great experience considering I have never shot a gun before. I seemed to have been the very few ladies around so I felt even more social. Shooting is for girls too ! Great time , would definitely recommend.”

“TA 07.04.19 - Wow - I had the best day at the Shooting Ground - having never shot before, I didn’t quite know what to expect, but it was brilliant. Not only the experience, but the service from the guys who help with the training, the support they provide and the atmosphere they create. The food was fab - from the soup and a sandwich for lunch, to the buffet for dinner and the serving staff were brilliant. The only downside was that the weather wasn’t great, so this did make for a cold afternoon - if the weather isn’t great, I’d recommend thermals, waterproofs and gloves as there is little shelter. It didn’t ruin the fun we had though, so don’t let this put you off... I will definitely be returning (even living 180 miles away!!)”

“TA 02.03.19 - I have nothing but praise for today’s experience at HWSG, which was a private lesson for myself and a friend. Andy our instructor put us right at ease from the word go, and ensured that we both had a thoroughly enjoyable and informative lesson. Despite one of us having some previous shooting experience and the other being a complete beginner, Andy still managed to make sure that the lesson was tailored to each of our individual needs. As a result of his expert tuition, my friend is now keen to take it up as a hobby and I’ve managed to start improving on my own technique. The lesson absolutely flew by and was great fun from beginning to end; Andy is definitely a credit to HWSG and we will both be returning for further tuition with him in the future. I am new to the sport but the tuition carried out by Peter has made me seriously consider taking the sport up on a more permanent basis, he kept the experience informative and yet incredibly enjoyable. I would recommend to anybody who is looking for a day of doing something a bit different / or to those within the midlands who are a bit more serious in taking up the sport.”

“FB 19.03.19 - My friends had bought me this for my birthday present and it was probably one the best presents I’ve ever had. I imagined the set up was going to be similar to a golf range with everyone stood lined up. But how different it was. The reception/bar/coffee area was set up like a old fashioned shooting lodge, very quaint and lovely. Before we met our pro we were approached by Andy, very funny man that settled any nerves we may have had. Kevin was our pro and he was great, another funny man that made the experience a very memorable one. Although it was a relaxed atmosphere we also felt very safe with full, clear instructions and safety was paramount. The shooting area was in a wood and at the edge of a hedgerow. There were different areas to shoot from with different challenges to make it interesting. We also thought we would be there shooting for about 45 mins but altogether it was a couple of well spent hours. We cannot wait to go again and hopefully meet up with Andy and Kevin. Thank you.

The clubhouse catering was excellent; we were seen straight away and partnered up with our tutor. We received excellent tuition from Kevin and the whole party shot well and improved throughout the session. The variety of stands used was excellent and challenged us all. We especially loved the flurry and although we all struggled, it’s all we’ve spoken about since. Kevin also demonstrated the value of becoming a member, owning my own gun and getting more into the sport, which I will certainly look at doing.
